Dedicated to the memory of Christopher Dawes - 'DAWSEY'

This is the fundraising page set up in honour of Chris Dawes. He supported the 'Make A Wish' charity, which work to make wishes come true for ill children. Chris supported the charity for the majority of his adult life, so we ask if you could help us raise money to make one final donation in honour of all of his support.

On this page you can also add any pictures or memories you have of him, this will last forever.

I can’t say how much I am going to miss my grandad throughout the rest of my life. He was the most loving man in the world and such a support to me, mum, Josh and Charlie. When I was very little he used to baby sit while mum was at work. I would be a bit of a nightmare so he would calm me down by building card houses out of playing cards. He had a special way of doing it that I will remember forever. As I got older and started not wanting to go to school. I would spend hours on end sitting at his flat when I was ‘ill’, I remember he used to plug his DVD player in for me so I could bring some films to watch. If I didn’t bring any he would record wildlife programs for me to watch whilst he was upstairs at work. If I was really lucky he would come down on his lunch break with a Mr Whippy from the ice cream van across the road. When I did go to school I used to walk to his flat when I’d finished. He would meet me when I first started walking on my own. There is a small bench at the end of Cantelupe Road where he used to sit and wait for me. As I came over the bridge I would always see him sitting there waiting for me. When I got more confident I would walk all the way to the flats and sit in the office playing Solitaire with him on his computer. Or I would go down to the flat where he would have left a packet of dark chocolate digestives for me on his bed. He would always wind me up about how many I’d eaten by the time he came down stairs at four o’clock. As well as the digestives he would leave me the puzzle page of his newspaper so I could do the cross word. When he came down from work he would help me with the maths puzzles. He claimed that’s why I passed my GCSEs! All the hours sat there arguing about the right answers. Having Dawsey as a grandad was the best thing in the world. As he used to say - “any trouble tell them who your grandad is”. I will still do that grandad. You will always be my inspiration and my favourite person ever. Love you always xx

My dad....what can I say? He was one of a kind. The most generous, kind and loyal family man. He would do anything for his daughters, grandchildren and friends. Some favourite memories I have of my wonderful dad. Sitting on his lap when I was little watching the motor racing on a Sunday. As Lucie said going to the golf course to look for golf balls he could sell in the water and then being bought a bottle of coke in the club house after. He was so naughty! Many, many days sitting in a coffee shop or pub when he would come and see me in Brighton. Even if he only came over for an hour he would still be happy to spend 3 hours on trains just to spend some time with me. Only recently he came to stay at our new house in Worthing for the weekend to help me sort out the garden and I loved spending so much time with him. Im so glad he got to see me settled and putting down roots with Dan. As I’ve got older I recognise so much of him in myself. I don’t take shit from anyone, I work hard and I always put other people before myself. Anyone who knew him would say he was the same. I will miss him more than words can say but I know he will always be with me and any milestone in my life he will be standing right next to me x
